The Green Armor Authentication Suite (formerly known as Identity Cues Two Factor) is a unique, user-friendly authentication system that both strongly authenticates users to an online system as well as informs users whether they are interacting with a legitimate web site or with a criminal’s clone site. Green Armor Authentication: How It Works

Green Armor's technology is delivered as software that easily integrates with existing web and mobile sites; it can even been licensed as an API which can be embedded as it it were the code of your actual application! Multi-factor authentication takes place behind the scenes, and obvious cues enable all users to instinctively recognize whether or not they are interacting with an intended legitimate party.

 

With Green Armor, patent-pending technology authenticates users as well as the devices that they use for access. Users type their login names & passwords as they always have -– with no added steps. If a user's credentials are correct, the system performs a heuristic analysis of the device he or she is using for access; In the vast majority of cases the system will quickly recognize the device as associated with that user and allow access, in cases in which the device is not recognized, or is recognized but its being so indicates a suspicious condition, then various security procedures will be implemented. Depending on risk level, for example, the system may send the user a one-time password via email or SMS which the user must enter into the web session for out of band authentication confirmation. Other options are available as well. It is important to realize that for most users authentication will take place invisibly, behind the scenes, on every login they perform.

 

Green Armor Authentication also generates visual cues by applying one-way cryptographic functions to a combination of user-entered text (e.g., the user's login name) and a series of secret keys. Based on the result of the calculations, cues are selected and displayed in user’s web browser. Only the genuine site can generate the proper cue for any particular user; because of the way the human perceives visual experiences, if no cue or an incorrect cue is displayed it will be obvious to even an untrained user that something is wrong with the site.

 

Since its inception, Green Armor technology has always delivered true multi-factor authentication whenever a user accesses a system. It has never relied on users answering questions (whose answers can often be obtained by criminals even easier than passwords can) in lieu of a true multi-factor sign on.
